Key Stage 4
WJEC Level 1/2 Certificate in Creative & Media (9750 C1)
The WJEC Level 1/2 Certificate in Creative and Media has been designed to mainly support learners in schools and colleges who want to learn about working in the creative industries. It provides learners with a broad introduction to the sector and the types of career opportunities available. In this qualification students will plan and carry out a range of creative projects related to a theme or brief.
Students will mainly focus on the areas of:
Photography, Film & Animation
Media & Print
Art, Design & Craft
The qualification has been devised around the concept of a ‘plan, do, review’ approach to learning, where learners are introduced to a context for learning, review previous learning to plan activities, carry out activities and review outcomes and learning. This approach mirrors many work-related activities in retail business and retail operations and also provides for learning in a range of contexts. As such, the qualification provides learners with a broad appreciation of work in retail business-related industries and wider opportunities for progression into further education, employment or training.
The qualification is composed of the following elements:
25% externally moderated exam
25% internally moderated exam
50% coursework based projects
It is mainly suitable as a foundation for further study at Level 3. This further study could provide learners with the awareness of the work and skills required of different types of job roles in the sector such as:
• Broadcasting and film
• Community arts
• Technical theatre
• Publishing, journalism and advertising.
What homework is set?
Each project has a specified homework task/s. Homework may take the form of planning, designing, collecting and researching ideas experienced during the lesson.
