Admissions procedure
The school has a published admission number (PAN) of 180 students. Places are allocated based on the criteria set out by East Riding Admissions:
- Looked after children.
- Children who live in the Cottingham High School catchment area.
- Children who have a brother or sister already attending Cottingham High School.
- Children who have attended one of our feeder primary schools for the whole of KS2.
- Geographical distance from the school.
Currently we have seven local feeder primary schools who Cottingham High School meet and work with regularly to discuss school improvements and to make sure all aspects of transition runs smoothly for students. These are:
Little Weighton Rowley CE (VC) Primary School
We also take students from a number of Hull primary schools.
Year 7 application process
For a Year 7 school place, you must apply to your home local authority, even if you are applying for a school in another area. You can apply either online or by using a paper form. Online forms are available on your local authority website:
www.eastriding.gov.uk
www.hullcc.gov.uk
Future intake
Once a place has been allocated in March by your local authority, we will be in touch via letter welcoming you and your daughter/son to Cottingham High School. Following this, we have an extensive transition programme supporting students and parents during this exciting time.
For further information about our transition programme, visit our transition page.
Appeals
If your child is not awarded a place at Cottingham High School because the school is full in Year 7, you can appeal against this decision by writing to Schools’ Admissions Team, County Hall, Beverley, HU17 9BA. Please note that the school is NOT responsible for admissions in Year 7 – that is the responsibility of the East Riding Local Authority.
