New CHS House System

We are pleased to introduce an exciting development for Cottingham High School: the launch of our new house system: The Cottingham Constellations.

As we celebrate the school’s 70th academic year, we are proud to re‑establish a cherished part of our history. Our new house system reconnects us with a tradition first introduced in the 1950s, when students belonged to houses named after constellations. Today, this idea has been reimagined to reflect the needs, values and aspirations of our modern school community.

The newsletter (below) explains:

  • the story behind the return of our constellation houses

  • the meaning and values connected to each house

  • how this system strengthens belonging, identity and pride across the school

This will also be the focus of our assemblies with students, as we introduce the houses in more depth and ensure every young person understands the significance of the values they represent.

We hope you enjoy reading about this exciting step forward for our students. Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
