Mathematics
Across the years pupils are taught to use mathematics to solve increasingly difficult problems. We consider using Mathematics to be a vital life skill.
In our school all Mathematics is taught in sets. Each class will follow a set scheme of work, increasing in difficulty each year. All pupils experience the National Strategy for Mathematics.
Classes are taught in many ways including traditional exposition and practice, investigational work using ICT, etc.
KS3 Mathematics
All pupils work on the four attainment strands in the National Curriculum. Results in SAT’s are very good and improving.
KS4 Mathematics
All pupils follow a course leading to GCSE (Edexcel). This has a two tier assessment and, in 2009, there will be no requirement for coursework. Results at GCSE are good and improving.
