History
Year 7:
The Roman Empire (Turning Point) – its growth and how it influenced the economy, society and culture of the period and countries conquered.
Medieval Realms (Britain 1066 – 1500) – concentrating on the development of medieval monarchy and the changes in culture and society.
Year 8:
The making of the U.K. (Britain 1500 – 1750)
The American Indians (Non-European Peoples)
Year 9:
Expansion, Trade and Industry (Britain 1750 – 1900)
The Twentieth Century World.
Students will be assessed at regular intervals throughout Years 7 – 9 and in a variety of ways. All assessments are designed to test student development in a number of key elements within the one History Attainment Target. Progression both between and within the different levels of the Attainment Target is encouraged and is the focus for feedback given to students.
The GCSE course is the NEAB Syllabus B Modern World History (1900 to the present day).
The ‘A’ level course is the JMB Syllabus A British History 1815 – 1914; European History 1870 – 1939.
An AS level can be taken by studying European History.
