Geography

Year 7

The main study units covered are:

• Making Connections
• People Everywhere
• Exploring the UK
• Investigating France

Year 8

The main study units covered are:

• Issues of Development
• Water and Rivers
• Global Economic activities

Year 9

The main study units covered are:

• Exploring Brazil
• Plate Tectonics and Earthquakes;
• Resource Issues

There is a short test at the end of each study unit. However, there are other assessments as appropriate to the content of the unit. The level of attainment awarded is based on all aspects of a student’s work.
Those who opt to student Geography in Years 10 and 11 follow the GCSE SEG A Syllabus. Six units must be studied. These include 3 physical units:

• Rocks and Landscapes
• Costal Landforms
• Ice

The other three are:

• Settlement
• Managing Resources and Tourism
• Industry

Geography is also taught at AS and ‘A’ level. Students follow the AQA B syllabus.
