English

Across the key stages we ensure that students’ abilities are developed within an integrated programme of speaking and listening, reading and writing. Our schemes of work effectively and imaginatively meet the National Curriculum requirements in the three Attainment Targets. We have introduced the English Framework as part of a three year plan, and have implemented a differentiated programme to cater for all individuals in our mixed ability classes. We are currently working on providing more opportunities to use new media technologies in the English classroom.
We believe that reading is the linchpin, the foundation of all learning and the key to success in all areas of the curriculum. We aim to ensure that all students have access to a broad and varied range of texts and that they are encouraged to record, reflect upon and evaluate their reading experiences.
