Business studies
Students can undertake Business Studies from Year 10 onwards as a GCSE course.
The Business Studies GCSE course covers a range of academic subjects from Marketing to Production and Finance to Recruitment and Selection.
Students use their interpersonal skills to carry out business simulations and are often involved in group discussions and practical research.
Business Studies draws upon information and knowledge that students have picked up by being customers and consumers in our everyday environment. These skills and knowledge provide a sound base for business education.
In the Sixth Form students can study two business courses at Cottingham High School. The GCE Applied Business course (Single or Double Award) offers students an opportunity to study Business in depth while gaining essential business skills such as communication, research and presenting. The course covers numerous areas of Business such as Marketing, Economics, Finance and Law. Students can then secure jobs in the commercial or private sector. Many students go on to become undergraduates at various Universities.
