Life Beyond Sixth Form

We know it can be tough to choose the right career path for you. We are here to help, support and advise you to make choosing a little easier and to prepare you for life outside the Sixth Form.

Higher and further education

A very high proportion of our students go on to study at universities all over the UK and abroad. Those who apply to university receive high quality support resulting in successful outcomes with typically 90% of students accepting offers from their first or insurance choices on results day.

Our sixth formers have an excellent track record of gaining places to study at top universities with typically 25 % going on to study at Russell Group universities more than double the national figure of 11%.  The Cott Scholars programme means that our most able students are identified early in year 12 to take part in a series of events throughout their time in the sixth form linked with the HE Plus  scheme that are designed to maximise their chances of gaining a place at a top university.
We also open doors for further education at college, apprenticeships and employment using our excellent links with the Careers service at Hull University and apprenticeship organisations.

We have a full programme of activities built in to our PSHCEE lessons. These include trips to Hull University, taster events and information about open days. We even give you advice on writing your personal statement, and we guide you through the entire UCAS process, from filling in the forms to applying online.

Our library stocks a wide range of university prospectuses and information about possible career routes. We also have a new Sixth Form Independent Learning Centre, in addition to our study area, which is equipped with a full suite of 60 networked computers, colour printer and plenty of space to work and research your chosen courses.

Employment, apprenticeships and training

Whether you are applying for a job, preparing for an interview or looking for the right apprenticeship or training course, our dedicated support staff and careers advisors will give you all the advice you need to get started on your career path.

We run various employability workshops throughout the year, as well as CV writing classes and mock interviews to help you prepare for the application process.
