Independent Learning – Supporting your learning outside of the classroom
At Cottingham High School we are committed to using some of the newest technology to support your child in their learning. The Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) state “Homework has a positive impact on average, particularly with pupils in secondary schools.” Their research suggests that pupils who complete regular, high-quality homework make up to 5 months more progress than students who do not. We aim to follow their guidance by linking homework to the lessons covered, using it as an opportunity for students to retrieve and use knowledge gained in the classroom.
The main benefit of completing regular online homework is that it allows our teachers to analyse the work completed, identifying gaps in knowledge and find opportunities to intervene and close those gaps. Students should remember to review their online work and, if questions are incorrect, attempt to self-review and try again so teachers see you ‘best’ attempt.
