Tuesday 12 December saw the enormous turnout of 17 Secondary Schools from across the East Riding bring their top athletes to compete in the East Riding Schools Cross Country Championships at Cottingham High School. Despite the wintery conditions, over 530 students took part and with the 4 winnings teams and top 15 finishers in each category progressing to the Humber Finals, there was a lot at stake. The 6 races were set off at intervals with the Year 7 Boys starting the running, cumulating with the Senior Girls runners closing the event. This event was led by the School Sport Partnerships for the first time, in conjunction with the East Riding Schools Athletic Association, and there was also outstanding support from Cottingham High School who not only offered to host and gave up space and time to allow the competition to happen, but they provided some awesome young leaders aiding the smooth operation of the event. Huge congratulations to all involved!
