Cottingham High Sixth Form Students celebrate the school’s best ever set of A Level results and make plans for successful futures
The class of 2016 have continued the trend of impressive student performances of recent years to produce a record-breaking set of results. The school recorded a 13% increase in A* and A grades achieved, with 37% of entries now achieving the top grades.
Headteacher, Scott Ratheram said, “I am delighted for students and staff that their hard work over the last two years has paid off. The overwhelming majority of students have secured their first choice university place and, with 6 out of 10 of all grades at B or above, this represents an exceptional performance by our students. Individual subjects have also seen outstanding results – 62% of maths grades were A/A* and almost all subjects had 100% pass rate.”
Mrs Westcott, Head of Post 16 Education said, “It is really pleasing to see that more than one third of grades awarded were the top A*-A grades and 83% of all grades were A*-C. The vast majority of our students have exceeded their target grades and have been successful in gaining the results they require to follow their chosen pathways. Many students are going on to take up places at the top universities in the country such as York, Warwick, Nottingham, Newcastle and Manchester.’
These results confirm that Cottingham High School is a high-performing Sixth Form and are a reflection of continuing effective consortium partnership working with Hessle High School and Wolfreton School.
