Mathematics
Mathematics is taught in 3 modules, Pure Core 1, Pure Core 2 and Statistics 1 on the AQA syllabus for AS and Pure Core 3, Pure Core 4 and Mechanics 1 for A2. The following is studied:
Pure Elements: Algebra, Co-ordinate Geometry, Trigonometry, Indices, Exponentials, Numerical Methods, Binomial Series and Compound Angles and Vectors.
Statistics: Measures of central tendency, Probability, Binomial Distribution, Normal Distribution, Estimation, Correlation and Regression. Mechanics 1: Kinematics, Statics, Linear Momentum and Projectiles.
There is no coursework with this course and modular exams are all taken in the summer.
This is an academically demanding course and requires a commitment from students to work outside class to ensure success. GCSE grade B or above in Mathematics is required to enrol on this course.
