The course looks at the ways chemistry is applied and the work that chemists do, it broadens the appeal of chemistry by showing how it relates to people’s lives, emphasise frontier areas of chemistry, include a broad range of teaching and learning, provide a rigorous and stimulating treatment of chemistry that both lays appropriate foundations for future studies and satisfies those who will study no further chemistry.

If you enjoy practical work, problem solving and lots of hard work then Chemistry is the ideal subject for you. Other subjects that go well with it are Biology, Mathematics, Physics. However students who are concentrating on Arts, Humanities or Modern Foreign Languages may wish to take Chemistry to AS to broaden their studies.

Past students have gone on to Further or Higher education, studying Chemistry or one of the other science or related subjects such as Medicine, Pharmacy, Veterinary Science, Chemical Engineering, work is science based industry, the medical field or agriculture.
